New Scheme Offers up to €1,000 Rebate for Coding Courses in Malta

If you’ve been thinking about picking up some coding skills but weren’t sure about the cost, a new scheme in Malta has just made it a lot easier to get started. The Boost Your Coding Scheme is now offering a rebate of up to €1,000 for residents who complete coding courses.

Whether you’re a student, someone looking for a career change, or just curious about how coding works, this initiative is designed to help you explore it with financial support.

Who can get involved?

The scheme is open to anyone living in Malta who is 16 or older. It is a great fit for young people looking to add a digital edge to their CV, young adults aiming to pivot into a technical role, or adults who have always wanted to learn but never had the right opportunity.

How the process works

The system is built to be simple and user-friendly. You choose a course, apply for the financial support, attend for the course successfully, pay for it yourself, and then claim your money back once you have finished. One of the most helpful features is that the timing is very flexible. You can apply for a rebate on courses that started as far back as October 2025. You also have plenty of time to finish your studies, as the deadline to submit your application is September 2026.

If your chosen course costs less than the €1,000 limit, you can even use the remaining balance for a second or third course until you hit the full amount. This allows you to stack different skills or progress through multiple levels of coding.

Choosing your course

To make the approval process faster, you can pick a course from the official MDIA Catalogue, which lists a variety of options from basic web development to more advanced programming. If you find a course elsewhere that is not on the list, it can still be considered as long as it is fundamentally focused on coding and is well designed. This flexibility ensures you can find the specific language or tool that interests you most.

Claiming your rebate

Once your financial assistance has been approved, you completed your course and received your certificate, you just need to provide your invoice, proof of payment, and receipt to get your reimbursement. The scheme is currently open for over 400 applicants, so it is a good idea to secure your spot soon. You can find all the application forms and full details on the official MDIA Boost Your Coding page.

This is a Government led initiative administered by the MDIA and supported by the Ministry for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects.
